                                                                             MY FOREVER PET

There's something missing in my home,

I feel it day and night,

I know it will take time and strength

Before things feel quite right.

But just for now, I need to mourn,

My heart it needs to mend.

Though some may say Its just a pet

I know I have lost a friend.

You've brought much laughter to my home,

And richness to my days.

A constant friend through joy or loss,

With gentle, loving ways.

Companion, pal, and confidante,

A friend I won't forget.

You'll live for always in my heart,

My sweet forever pet. . . .

This is Sabrina. She was so beautiful! She had diabetes, congestive heart failure, mamary gland tumor, and bladder stones. She was a real trooper and lived to be almost five years old. That is a good old age for a healthy guinea pig. She went into heart and kidney failure and died quickly.  I still miss her fuzzy little black face.

This is Jasmine my cinnamon agouti. Her coat was so pretty. She lived with Sabrina and was a happy healthy pig. She died suddenly with a heart attack while eating lettuce. Lettuce was her favorite,so I guess that was a good way to go for her. I was very upset because I was in the room feeding all the pigs when she had the heart attack. At least it was fast.

This is Tasha. She was my first pig that I had since I was young. She was fiesty , sassy, and all personality. She was mine and my husband's favorite pig. This is the same pig as is on my homepage. She started turning gray about 3 years old. Her digestive system shut down at age 5 and I had to put her to sleep. It was a very hard thing to have to do!

This is Teah. She was born April 8, 2001. She was a smart and sturdy guinea pig. She learned how to ring the bird bell in their cage really fast. She would ring it right before our alarm went off in the mornings. We called it the "Butler Bell."  Her favorite food was canalope! She would stand up on her back feet for it. She is, also, my only singer pig. She chirped like a bird only one time though. She was in heat at the time, so I think she was chirping for a male. It sounds just like a bird!
Teah, also, had Diabetes. I had to give her two shots a day of insulin. Dr. Patton and I tried her on glyberide pills first, but she didn't respond. She started having trouble eating, then her jaw started fusing together. I had to put her to sleep in December 14, 2002. The vet thought she had a tumor in her jaw bone or joint that was keeping her from moving her jaw.

I was very attatched to Sophie because she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure at a young age. I had to give her lasix every 12 hours for six months to keep the fluid out of her lungs. She was a real trooper.  Her kidneys finally failed too. She died on July 29, 2001 at one year and eight months and I was heartbroken. She loved pumkin seeds.

This is Prissy my ferret. She was given to us. She was a sweet and playful ferrer. She got cancer and I had to put her to sleep in 2004.

This is Ginger.  I picked her up from the Humane Society in November 2003. Someone had dumped her outside in the cold.

This is Katie. She is the mother of the three boys. She has such a pretty face! She came from a barn that had 100 pigs in it. They were all rescued and found new forever homes.

This is Lester and Luther. They are newts and I have had them since 1992. I did not know that they can live to be 65 years old when I got them. Luther died suddenly this year 2005. I do not know why. He did not show any symptoms of being ill. They eat live and freeze-dried worms.
